- Invitation to 'Preparing successful bids for statutory contracts' two-day workshop

Dear Colleague,

Is your organisation bidding for statutory contracts and grants? How can you make sure that your bid is successful and that you have the necessary skills to make your bid stand out?

Excellent written communication skills are paramount for bid-writing staff, but how often do they work on developing these skills?

If you would like to find out more about how to ensure that your bids are successful, we would be delighted if you or a member of your team would like to join 18 colleagues from across the sector at one of Action Planning's intensive two-day masterclasses on Preparing successful bids for statutory contracts and grants.

The next session of the workshop will be held in London on the 28 & 29 March or 23 & 24 April.

This intensive and practical workshop is Britain's leading training course on statutory fundraising for charities and social enterprises. It has already run more than 100 times and been widely adopted as a core training module by the leading service-delivering charities.

The course will help you respond to the increased competition for statutory contracts which has resulted from the cuts and to understand and prepare for the new opportunities created by the Big Society agenda by investing now in the bid-writing capacity of your team.

The workshop is limited to 18 participants and presented by our Statutory Funding Consultant, Derek Smith, formerly Services Director of RNID. It enables participants to achieve high scoring bids by understanding evaluation systems and completing high quality applications. It explains how to cut the time involved in bid writing by preparing information in standard formats and includes resources, including our 'Bid Preparation Tool Kit', for your ongoing use.

The training costs £385 including VAT, lunch both days and all course materials. You can book places and request an invoice by clicking here or by completing the form on the brochure. If you have several people who need these skills, we may be able to run the course for you in-house. Please email me directly if you want to explore this. Here are some comments from recent participants:

  • "This training is fantastic and meets a key need for charities." Nicole Penn Symons, Chief Executive, Disabled Living Foundation
  • "The course was very informative, clearly structured & well delivered." Joanna Jones, Volunteer Grant Applications Mgr, Burscough Outreach Trust
  • "I wish I had done 'Preparing successful bids' ten years ago." Ann Evett, Development Manager, Thomas Pocklington Trust
  • "Excellent course – both content & delivery" Darren O'Connor, Development Manager, Soil Association

We also asked participants to define the workshop in three words. The three words they most commonly gave were "inspiring"," thought provoking" and "practical".

You are also most welcome to join us at our next national conference, Funding the Future, and our other workshops, details of which can be accessed through these links (which scroll down this email).

The reality is very different and, for well considered projects, the process for securing EU funding is straightforward and has a higher success rate than much UK funding. This practical one-day workshop conference will help you access the £350 million distributed via the EU structural and EU 'Community Action Programmes'. It is presented by Diana Mathis of YTES in Lille, leading European experts in this field.
